Ivan & Val Appanna

Ivan Appanna is the senior elder of Gate Ministries Durban South. He is happily married to Val for 40 years. They have two children and five grandchildren. Ivan is in full time ministry for 22 years having initially pastored Team Outreach Fellowship. The Church was renamed Gate Ministries Durban South in 2010 under Apostle Thamo Naidoo who provides spiritual covering over the Gate family of churches.

Ivan holds a bachelor’s degree in Theology from the University of South Africa, a Master’s Degree in Theology from Teamwork Bible College for the Nations, and a Doctor of Divinity from New Covenant International Bible College. Ivan and Val are certified marriage coaches under Married For Life.

We are a ministry founded on biblical principles serving in the spirit of excellence, integrity, and respect. We reach out to the hurting, lost and broken by small group mentorship programmes with key focus on marriage, young adults, youth and children. Mentorship fosters good face to face participation, promotes interpersonal dialogues and develops strong leaders.

Ivan’s primary focus is that of teaching and he has a passion to bring members into sonship through deep biblical and spiritual impartation. We are affiliated to and partnership with a few ministry entities like YWAM, The Haggai Institute and Samaritan’s Purse to alleviate gospel poverty.
